Agendas and minutes

An agenda is the list of items the council will discuss at a meeting. The minutes are the written record of what was agreed once the meeting has finished. Together they show how decisions are made in Bucknell, from planning comments to spending village money.

Most people come to this page for one of two reasons: to see what is coming up at the next meeting, or to check what was decided at the last one. Everything is listed below by year, newest first, so you should not have to hunt through a long file list.

Next meeting and agenda

The council usually meets every other month, in January, March, May, July, September and November. The most recent papers published are for May 2026, which include the agenda for the Annual Parish Meeting, the agenda for the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council, and draft minutes for both.

The date, time and venue of the next meeting are confirmed on the agenda, which is published shortly beforehand. If you would like the date of the next meeting confirmed, or you want to know whether it is your turn to speak, email or ring the clerk and you will be told.

Residents are welcome to attend. If you want to raise something in person, it helps to tell the clerk in advance so time can be set aside.

What was decided, in plain English

Each set of minutes is offered as a PDF you can download and keep. Minutes are written to a set pattern, so they can read as rather formal.

Where a meeting has agreed something that affects the village directly — a planning response, spending, or a decision about the playing field or village hall — a short plain summary can be added above the download so you can see the outcome without reading the whole document. If a decision in the minutes is not clear to you, the clerk will explain it.

Minutes marked draft have not yet been agreed by the council, so the wording may still change. Minutes marked approved are the final record.

Frequently asked questions

When are agendas published?

The agenda goes up before each meeting, so residents can see what will be discussed. Contact the clerk if you would like to be told when the next one is available.

When are minutes approved?

Minutes are published first as a draft, then agreed at the following meeting. That is why you will see some listed as "draft" and older ones as "approved". The approved version is the official record.

How do I ask for an older document?

Papers from earlier years are held in the council's archived documents. Email the clerk at bucknell.clerk@gmail.com with the meeting date or the subject you are interested in, and a copy can be sent to you.

Can I get papers in another format?

If a PDF does not suit you — for example you need larger print or a printed copy — ask the clerk and the council will do what it can to help.

Asking for an item to be added to an agenda

If you want the council to discuss something, write to the clerk and say clearly what you would like considered and why. The clerk will speak to the chairman about including it on the next agenda.

Please send your request in good time. Agendas must be published before a meeting, and once an agenda is published no new business can be added to it, so anything that arrives late will normally wait for the following meeting. Ask the clerk for the current cut-off date.
