Bucknell Parish Council is the most local level of government for the village of Bucknell, near Bicester in North Oxfordshire. It is made up of local people who give their time to look after village matters and to speak up for residents when decisions are made about the parish.
The council is here for everyone who lives in Bucknell. You can come to a meeting, raise something that is bothering you, or simply read the papers to see what is being discussed.
The parish council looks at the day-to-day life of the village and puts the parish's views forward. That includes:
Some things are not the parish council's job. Services such as bin collections and district planning decisions are handled by Cherwell District Council, and roads, potholes, street lighting and highways matters are handled by Oxfordshire County Council. If you are not sure who to ask, email the clerk and she will point you in the right direction.
The Parish Council meets every two months — in January, March, May, July, September and November — on the second Monday of the month, at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.
The Annual Parish Meeting is held in May each year. Occasionally there are extra meetings. These are publicised in advance on this website and on the village notice board at the Village Hall.

Yes. Everyone is welcome to attend meetings at the Village Hall. You do not need to book or be a member of anything — just come along.
Email the clerk at bucknell.clerk@gmail.com before the meeting and explain what you would like the council to consider. She will confirm whether it can go on the agenda for the next meeting.
Places do become available, and there are currently vacancies for two councillors. You can ask any of the councillors, or contact the Parish Clerk, Cathy Fleet, at bucknell.clerk@gmail.com for information about what the role involves. The vacancy notice is on this website.
Potholes and roads are usually a matter for Oxfordshire County Council, and bin collections for Cherwell District Council. If you are unsure, email the parish clerk and she will point you to the right place.
